Abortion 3 weeks ago, still bleeding heavily...

I had a medical abortion 3 weeks ago. All went pretty normal (I think). Passed large clots and the pain stopped once I finished passing the larger clots.

It’s nearly 3 weeks on (it’ll be three weeks tomorrow when I can take the pregnancy test) and I’m still bleeding, changing my pad around 3-4 times a day. Occasionally still having small clots on the pad. Yesterday and today there has been a slight smell (sorry tmi) kind of like when you're at the end of your period when it's the brownish 'old' blood.

I’m not in any pain, I just want to know other people’s experiences, if this is normal? Before I contact my GP or the clinic as I don’t want to waste their time or go in unnecessarily.

If the smell is unpleasant I'd contact them as it could be an infection. Depending how pregnant you were it wouldn't be unusual to still be bleeding now as long as it's getting gradually lighter.

I think that's a good idea. Everything is probably fine, but if anything has been retained it would explain the bleeding and smell. Best of luck.
