Period delaying medication

I am due to go on holiday next weekend but my period will annoyingly coincide with the dates. A few people have suggested taking a period delaying medication. I have looked at these and it seems some have not so great side effects. Has anyone used these before?

Yes I've taken norethisterone many times with no issues. You need to take it a few days before you are due on so order sharpish if you are due on next week

Where do you get this medication? Is it over the counter ? I need a month off my periods as I’m severely anaemic and this could really help me I didn’t know such a thing existed !

Great thank you! I'll order it online tonight then!

I've seen norethisterone online with boots, Superdrug and a few other online pharmacies. You can request it through them

Yes! I posted recently about doing this- I took norethisterone from Boots and the timings all worked perfectly (I delayed my April to push back the May one which was the one I wanted to move due to a holiday). No side effects other than that heavier pre-period feeling lasted longer while it was in the pill delay phase in April.

I’m going to order some ! I just need to get through another month before a gynae appt for severe anaemia due to heavy periods and this might actually mean I can cope !

Thanks so much all! I read the side effects and was worrying but sounds like I will be fine!

Currently taking norethisterone via the online pharmacy at Superdrug. No side effects at all other than a slightly spotty chin, and I've just stopped taking it to let my period happen now I'm back from holiday. Slightly spotty chin is annoying, but not having period for the trip was much better!

Does anyone know if you can take this on everol sequil?

I've used this on 3 occasions. Norethisterone twice and provera once.

First time was fine. When my delayed period came, it was heavier than usual but nothing dramatic.

Second time it was pretty bad. I had to stay on the toilet most of the first day of my delayed period, big clots etc.

My experience with provera wasn't great. I was to take it for 2 weeks on holiday. First 6 days were fine. Day 7 I started bleeding, heavier than spotting but not a period. I continued anyway. It got heavier each day, pain too. By day 10, I was in full period level of bleeding but continued to take it as, knowing my previous experience, didn't want to risk flooding or massive clots whilst camping with no easy toilet access. When I stopped the meds once home, I then had the heavy bleeding and clots. So I actually had about 16 days of continued bleeding. Not ideal.

Obviously give it a go, but just be aware you might have a heavier and more painful period once you stop the medication.
