Passing large blood clots in my period

Hi everyone,

I need some help. Sorry for the graphic details below:

Before 2021, my period was very regular (would come every 28 days and last for 4 to 5 days, medium flow but with a extreme pain every time).

Now I have been having irregular period these last 3 years. It comes once or twice in 3-4 months, lasts for about 15 days and the flow is quite heavy. I keep passing very tiny blood clots and string-like tissue but there isn't any period pain at all... Today I passed a mini golf sized chunk of blood. It was a little scary.

I am not pregnant and not going through miscarriage. I have experienced miscarriage 8 years back and it was extremely painful with severe cramps every time I passed a piece of the lining but today I have no pain at all, not even the slightest. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this? Please let me know.

Thank you very much

Hi, sorry you're going through this.
How old are you? Do you think this could be something to do with perimenopause? Or fibroids?

Sara3010 · 16/06/2024 02:45

Thank you for your concern. I'm almost 40. Hoping and praying that it is not fibroid.

Sara you need to go to your GP and insist on an examination and blood tests, they need to confirm what this is. In most cases it probably is a fibroid but don't leave it and don't be fobbed off by getting pills to reduce the bleeding without knowing the cause.
Good luck ,

Thank you. Do you think those big chunks of blood tissue are parts of the fibroid breaking? I will be booking an appointment and going to the my gp

HI Sara, I hope you got some answers. My heavy bleeding was uterine cancer so I was unlucky - until I had an MRI it was undetectable. Fingers crossed it is just a pesky fibroid for you.
