Starving hungry ALL the time

I'm 38 years old. Always had a 'healthy' appetite but in the last few weeks I am hungry ALL the time. Been trying to keep drinking loads of water, eating high protein foods but what could this be? Thyroid? Peri-menopause? Just because? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 I can't keep eating at the rate I'm eating so not sure what to do 😭

Pregnant?

curlycurlymoo · 11/06/2024 21:19

This is me. I get home from work and just eat and eat and eat.

Onemorefortheroad · 11/06/2024 22:08

Hoping not pregnant. Unlikely as have a coil but no periods so wouldn't even know.

It's unreal how much I can eat and still feel really hungry as if I haven't ate at all 😩

Ive been feeling this hungry since i put the coil... was it recent for you?

StuntNun · 12/06/2024 10:21

The Mirena coil did that to me. Are you on any hormonal contraceptives?

PanicAttax · 12/06/2024 10:25

I'd say hyperthyroid - it is how I feel in waves but I have a lot of deficiencies so also get nausea and tummy pains - well, I think that is why (not got to the bottom of it yet). Get your T3 and T4 levels checked. Do you get a racing heat and sudden anxiety or depression? I have been cycling through anemia and anxiety diagnosis for years and it turns out the palpitations, fainting and intense fear and worry is probably hyperthyroidism. I am on beta blockers for that now but probably need a stronger dose as it is still affecting my mood and sleep.

PanicAttax · 12/06/2024 10:26

Also meant to ask if you are loosing weight? I've lost fat, visceral fat and muscle since September no matter what I eat - can't seem to keep it on.

Cantfindthewordsddstruggling · 12/06/2024 10:28

Worms?

Cadela · 12/06/2024 10:30

Not to worry you but I had a coil and was suddenly starving and it was because I was pregnant 😬

But it also could be hormonal, or thyroid related. I’d book in for some blood work.

Onemorefortheroad · 12/06/2024 20:11

Not losing weight, no. My Mum has thyroid issues so wonder if it could be that.
Had mirena coils in for about 8 years but this one was put in last year. I do read that they can cause weight gain 🙄 it's just the suddenness that it's come on. Will see how it goes and maybe speak to the GP if it doesn't settle down
