What counts as cooking/PIP?

I already get PIP but I’m worried they’ll say I can cook. I am waiting for a decision on a review. I buy a mix of things that can be eaten right away if I need something to eat right then and can’t wait. Or food that takes time to cook in the oven or I might put some vegetables on a tray or boil some rice or pasta which is risky because I forget about it but I certainly don’t have the attention span or energy to prepare something from scratch.

Just because you don't cook it doesn't mean you can't in the world of pip. You need to show that you are unable to cook a very simple meal. Can you not use a timer and things like that?

dd has severe learning difficulties, no concept of time, cannot read and follow a recipe, cannot turn an oven on off, cannot even heat up a pizza as she cannot work the oven (cognitively this is too complex) and we didn't even manage to get full points here. I think you need strong evidence that you are unable to do this. saying you forget it in the oven can be sorted with a timer really.

I have issues with following instructions myself, I can read in theory but sometimes just can’t process it. I also struggle with losing track of the time or day. And I have interception issues. I use a timer but some things need to be watched but I literally just forget about it

You don’t have to be unable to cook a meal from scratch to be able to say you can’t cook. If you can put food in the oven and can boil veg rice etc, you’re not going to get full points there.

Yes, I think the threshold of cooking is quite lax. It’s more a question of can you competently feed yourself. If that means you’re eating crisps, ready meals/micro chips then you are considered capable.
