Aspirated breast cyst - 4 wks - very sore

Anyone experience or knowledge of? 46 yrs, had 3 visits to breast clinic over 2 yrs - large cysts, aspirated each time, all good, no pain after. Most recent visit 4 weeks ago, aspirated but don’t think it properly went away, lots of bruising on breast still present. However last few days am in lots of pain with it, lump now feels huge and hard and aware of it at all times, Feels like it’s throbbing, too sore to exercise.
any ideas? Is it just because the cyst has filled and so big or could it be an abscess. Waiting GP call back next week, clinic won’t see me without a fresh referral.

I am not a HCP but it does sound like it could be an abscess. Is it hot at all? Do you have a temperature?
Is there a local walk in/out of hours clinic you can attend over the weekend? A call back next week sounds a long way away!
Hope you feel better 💐

I'd go back to the gp. I've had numerous cysts aspirated, some really large ones and my breasts have only been sore for a day or two with very small (if any) bruising.

Actually I've just read your post properly, I'd be off to A&E, sounds like a cyst that might need antibiotics

I had several of these over a number of years and some required antibiotics because they were infected. Mammogram plus infected cyst was not fun. It sounds like something is not right this time. You might need an out of hours gp appointment.
Best wishes - they are so painful you have my total sympathy.

Sounds like its abscessed. I’d get to A&E.

I had similar a few years ago, it needed surgical excision and antibiotics. You have my sympathy, if its anything like mine went, the pain must be awful.

Thanks everyone, pain has picked up now considerably. Got home from
kids activity pick up and can see lump is now bulging and skin is red. Pretty certain it’s an abscess, on phone to NHS24 for advice currently. Think next steps should be hospital for ultrasound/ draining and antibiotics.
