Bleeding 2 days after Smear

Is this common?

Smear test itself was fine, no bleeding immediately afterwards, then late yesterday I had some dark brown/red bleeding on panty liner, then nothing overnight until around lunchtime today another "bleed" but more than yesterday. When I wipe now it's on the tissue. Ive got period type pain and starting to worry.

Anyone else experienced this? I've never bled after a smear before. I do have some cervical ectropion but I don't bleed after sex or in between periods.

I’m the same. Smear test on Thursday and no bleeding after, which I usually do get. Then I had some blood this morning.

How long do you normally bleed for? I've still got a little bit today aswell :(

I bled until Sunday this time. Usually it starts right after and might last just the day.

Just to update incase anyone comes across this post in the future. My results were hpv negative.

Yes got hpv positive in 2023. …Cleared exactly one year later.

A smear came back quicker in 2024 taken by surgery nurse who thought they hadn’t enough of a sample than a hysteroscopy taken by an alleged gynaecologist.

Now to be like my Aunt who birthed no fewer than 6 children who apparently enjoys refusing smears and telling her surgery why she won’t attend future appointments. Daughter left with a whopper of a fibroid to sort out privately to another daughter miscarrying a lot due to under active thyroid diagnosis too late on.

Only so much prodding and poking a lady wants with the most competent of medics. If I could have the so called nhs smear profogandia stopped coming near my doorstep when I couldn’t ever be taken seriously over a fibroid I would.

I bleed after every smear test and out of 4 only 1 time has it come bk with abnormal cells. Just saying that bleeding after doesnt mean you have hpv/abnormal cells.

Just putting this here incase anyone's worried and search for these posts.

Can I ask, have you had yearly smears and any cell changes with your positive gov diagnosis?
