Thrush 38 weeks pregnant

Hi I'm 38 weeks pregnant and last week or so I've been feeling really itchy down there, redness etc all of the thrush symptoms. I seen my midwife yesterday and asked her to prescribe me a cream but she has prescribed me with the Canesten 10% vaginal cream. I mentioned to her I wasn't feeling itchy internally just inside of vagina lips (sorry tmi). I thought she would have prescribed me with the external cream. This cream states to apply the cream inside the vagina with the applicator. Is it safe to apply with applicator and do I need to if I'm not feeling itchy internally as in inside the vagina? Any advice would be much appreciated please.

I had so much thrush in second pregnancy, had to put pessaries like every week , perfectly fine dont worry

Thank you.. yes im 2 weeks away from due date. I called the GP today and she prescribed me with a pessary instead and advised not to use with applicator. Will apply tonight in hope it clears soon!
