Pain from cuts/tears 5 weeks on

Hi all,
I gave birth to my baby boy on the 26th April. I had a 2nd degree tear which needed stitches, aswell as a lot of abrasions on the skin and muscle tissue.
I was fine urinating pretty much straight from birth. I didn't experience much pain or discomfort at all, I thought I was quite lucky. However, nearly 5 weeks on and the stinging during urination is worse than ever. It's only when the urine makes contact with my skin does it sting really bad. I thought it was down to my urine being too concentrated as I'm not drinking anywhere near enough as I didn't during pregnancy as my self care seems to have been pushed to the side with the demand of a newborn. However I have been drinking quite a lot more over the last few days but the stinging is still very much there. Its getting really uncomfortable to go to the toilet now.
Iv stopped bleeding and there isn't any gunk or anything present so I don't think any of its infected. Did anyone else experience this? Can offer some tips or advice? Thank you

I would contact your midwife, just to check things out.

She's unlikely to be under the midwife at 5 weeks PP
Do you have a postnatal check at GP booked?

Not until the 25th June

I had similar because my stitches fell out a few days after the birth and I basically had an open wound for weeks! It was so painful, you have my sympathy.
Definitely recommend getting in touch with your MW if that's still an option, or an appointment with your GP if not. Don't suffer until the end of June! I didn't even get a physical exam at my postnatal check anyway, so it's not guaranteed they'll be able to help you then anyway.
Take care of yourself Flowers

In my hospital you can still call and go to maternity triage to check things like stitches for tears. On my 10 day midwife check I asked her to examine my stitches as my pain suddenly had become a lot worse, she was a bit rubbish and wasn't sure if they were infected but sent me to triage where they were happy to take a look. So give them a call and even if they say no they can probably advise further.

GP 6-8 week checks for the mother don't routinely involve an exam down there, it's usually a few cursory questions like 'how are you feeling' and 'what contraception are you using' 🙄

Hiya,
Did you find out why this was? Im nearly 5weeks PP and have the exact same thing. Stings when I go to the loo but only when it touches the skin on the left side. Feels uncomfortable through out the day too. I think I might get the health visitor to do examination when I take my son for his 6-8 week check up as my postnatal checkup is over the telephone!!
