Could I get rid of this UTI without antibiotics?

I suddenly developed UTI symptoms last night (pain on urination, urgency, and I had the shivers). I dipped using a home test kit and it was positive for leukocytes, protein, and blood (normal for me because I have unexplained microscopic hematuria). I flushed with water and the pain is a bit better this morning but I still am shivery. Just wondering if anyone thinks I could get rid of this if I keep flushing with water, without having to have antibiotics?

I have put a call in to 111 but it's likely to be 12 hours... I had a recurrent UTI in December which took three rounds of antibiotics to clear it!

If you can get to a pharmacy they can now issue three days of antibiotics for a UTI if you're under 65 (and over 16). Check they're providing the Pharmacy First service (98% of them signed up so most should be). You can just walk in.

Hope you feel better soon! The pharmacy might not do for you as it's only nitrofurantoin, but even if you get it and start on that you may be feeling a bit better until you can get something else. I find the nitro helps me even if it doesn't totally shift it, and 12 hours means pharmacies could be shut by the time 111 issue a prescription for you.

I doubt it
The last 2 times I thought I'd flushed one out it came back with a revenge a week later
I find the d-mannose tablets from boots take the edge off.
Pricey though
I've also used the pharmacy antibiotics service a few times

How did you get on @sososadaboutthis

I've used the pharmacy option today to get antibiotics for a UTI. So glad this option is available.

How did you get on @sososadaboutthis

Thank you all for the advice! I was really unsure whether I should have antibiotics at all, but I spoke to 111 and the doctor actually wanted me to have them, so I picked up some strong ones from the pharmacy today. I'm glad I did as symptoms have deteriorated since. Really appreciate the replies, thank you

Get well soon @sososadaboutthis Flowers

I didn't want to scare you earlier but DD used to get recurrent UTIs so we used to see the paediatrician regularly. She was very clear that you should never ignore a UTI because it can track back to the kidneys and potentially lead to kidney failure later in life.

So you have done the right thing.
