Feeling Horrendous from Day 5 of my Period

Hello,

Just curious to see if anyone else is experiencing symptoms like I am around Day 5 of my period (just after bleeding, leading up to ovulation).

I feel absolutely horrendous. Run down, exhausted, like I’m on the cusp of a cold, achey, emotional, cranky. I’ve had a hormone test recently and I’m not Peri, I’m not on the pill or coil, and I would say I’ve noticed a marked difference in my periods since my little one was born almost two years ago. To be blunt, they’re now awful where they never bothered me before.

The periods themselves are fine, but the moods and this exhaustion thing I’ve got now are just NOT the one!

I wondered if anyone else has experienced this and could help attribute what hormone is causing the issue(s) as my GP said “understanding women’s issues is like finding a needle in a haystack” (LOL, so don’t bother trying!) and of course suggested antidepressants despite me not feeling depressed. Thanks!

I would be talking to a different GP and also consider complaining to the practice manager.

Have you had your thyroid gland levels checked via a blood test as these can cause such symptoms to arise.

Thanks for your reply!

Should have mentioned, I have congenital hypothyroidism (aka since birth) so I’ve been on Levothyroxine my whole life. I’m getting my levels checked out next week for that but I’ve tracked enough months now to see a pattern that it’s leading up to ovulation when I feel rubbish.

Funnily enough, that GP runs the place. No surprise, a male. I went private after that hence knowing I’m not Peri, but I’m just wondering if there’s some hormone fluctuation at this stage that I’m sensitive to that’s causing all of this. So annoying!

I've been having a look at this myself as feel terrible from about day 6 until after ovulation. I'm still trying to sort out some blood tests but my research (googling) suggests estrogen might be playing a role.

Did you find the cause/treatment since last posting?
