Is it difficult to get an appointment for cervical screening? Wondering about the Daye Test

I am overdue my smear, I find making phone calls difficult, combination of work patterns, forgetfulness, adhd.. I tried to book an appointment on the NHS app, no appointments available at my surgery for the next 16 weeks, which seems mad, can't book beyond then.
I can get an at home test kit for £69, which seems expensive, but is it worth it for peace of mind? It's not something you need often I suppose.

What is going on with the NHS, feels so impossible to access.

I have to phone to make a nurse appointment for a smear test. Is it a nurse you are trying to book on the app?

I have to phone to book nurse appointments too. They almost always have something available that week.

Yes it was a nurse appointment I was trying to book. I guess there may only be so many appointments released to be booked on the app as not everyone can access that. On the surgery website it directs to the app and you have to really hunt for a phone number!
