Why is my period 'Stuck'

Hey guys! Bit of advice required before I look to discuss with a medical professional - don't know if I'm just being paranoid!

Period due 10th May - so I'm late. Did a pregnancy test, negative.
all the signs and symptoms have been in place for period starting for atleast 2 weeks now, there's spotting, but very very minimal compared to normal, I've been bloated for what feels like ever. Emotional, spotty. Full works. But it's almost like it's 'stuck'. I've assessed a little bit internally which sounds very odd but you know what I mean, and its more apparent there, why won't it come out 😂😅

in one respect - doing my a favour as mine are horrific my heavy, but on the other hand, why!?!?!? I could pass as pregnant the level of bloat I have. Any thoughts?

How old are you? Peri can play havoc with your periods.

Mine went from clockwork to anything between 16!! and 62!! days when I turned 37... assume peri

Hey OP I’ve experienced this, so frustrating. I’m 38. Steaming with raspberry leaf and motherwort every couple of days from day 21 onwards seemed to help a bit, and drinking raspberry leaf tea, taking evening primrose throughout the month.

What really helped was to delete my period tracker app so I didn’t know what day I was as I was really stressing out about it each month. I see it as a bit like labour now… it’ll start when I’m relaxed and my body is ready. Periods are less painful now too.

I'm hearing you. I am Peri and haven't had a period for 3 months and currently I am feeling so pre-menstrual and have been for 2 weeks. I look pregnant! If it doesn't come soon I will cry. I spent all this time waiting for them to stop and now I'm desperate for one - can't win!

Could be an ovarian cyst?

Sometimes I find I have a period with everything apart from the period. It resolves itself the next month

Bakeycakes · 18/05/2024 08:32

I'm 32!

Thanks for the replies lovelies - It's always been pretty clockwork, I did have cysts showing some while ago so potentially that I spose - suffering with a dodgy hip at the moment which I'm now convinced is linked too! I feel almost as though I'm getting more and more due on and I might just pop soon! Maybe a trip to the doc is necessary!

Some times periods are affected by random things - maybe you had a minor infection, or maybe you are stressed. I would prob pay a visit to the GP if it happened a couple of times... but see how you feel. No harm with having some reassurance

PartnersInCrime · 18/05/2024 12:02

I also have cysts, so could well be linked....

Alwayssomething14 · 03/07/2024 14:29

Did you ever get your period? Or find out anything else?

I'm 43, 3 weeks late but period pain for 5 weeks, had brest tenderness about a week ago but still no period. It definitely feels stuck !

Pain is more left lower abdomen too so I've thought about a cyst. Bloods booked for next Wednesday.

LividLoved · 03/07/2024 14:36

I was recently eight days late.

Age 43 which I assume is the reason.

Not physically possible for me to be pregnant, but if it was I'd be testing daily!!
