Hi sorry for the long post,

ive always suffered with either over active or under active thyroid issues, 18 months ago my consultant while I was pregnant noticed a swollen thyroid I was sent to an endocrinologist who said my levels showed hypothyroidism however he wanted to see me once I’d given birth so at my next consultant appointment book a follow up however I ended up having an emergency c section so I never made my consultant appointment and then I got a bit lost in the system. Follow up to about jan after finally getting over parenting and realising my fatigue is a bit out of the ordinary (I was still sleeping when my daughter napped she’s now 2 in July and I could still do the same and have 12 hours and still be tired) my
bloods are slightly hypo side but more normal than when pregnant however my doctor said about my
swollen neck again, so I was referred for an ultrasound which I went too and they said I had a goiitre and cystic nodules on the left but I have a U3 1.5mm nodule on the right that has some internal vascularisation (I’m assuming means blood flow) and I was called back for a needle aspiration with the consultant on 22nd April on the way out they said about 1-2 weeks this was nearly 4 weeks ago and no one seems to have any idea when my results will be in and it’s just making me anxious as I know
i had 3 needles done for the one spot 3 slide and a pot sent off. I’ve just had my thyroid antibodies testing this morning at the gps request and the nurse said I should hopefully hear next week but as someone with anxiety I am now starting to over think that it’s something more than just a benign nodule. So after all this essay has anyone else recently had a fine needle biopsy is 4 weeks and still nothing the norm? Sorry for the ramble I just feel like I have no one to talk to about this worry that I’m being over dramatic

The time it takes for biopsy reports to be processed will depend on the turn around at your NHS trust's path lab, how busy your consultant is and how busy his/her secretary is. Last year, I waited 8 weeks before receiving results for endometrial biopsies. This year it was three or four weeks.

Have you phoned the consultant's secretary to ask whether results are back with the consultant yet? She won't be able to tell you the results (unless the consultant has already reviewed the result and unless it is normal). But she should be able to tell you whether the biopsy report is back yet and is waiting for the consultant to review it or if it has been received, the report letter is waiting to be typed up. (Some secretaries work part-time and may work for three or four consultants.)

Ah thank you so much for this I think I will do this just to have an idea of where things are at, :) I mean I know every service is just swamped but I’m just terrible and have no patience as my anxiety just goes on a wild one 🤣
