I’ve been taking the mini pill for 6 weeks now due to heavy painful periods, Also I was always due on when going away and delayed them a few times with northisterone, they have always been an inconvenience due to the heaviness I feel like I can’t move for 2 days 😩
anyway I’ve been taking the mini pill now desogestrel for 6 weeks I have been spotting and bleeding for 3 weeks now! I am going to Ibiza tomorrow and I just don’t want this to continue and I’m kicking myself as my normal period would have been and gone, but now I’ve ended up bleeding probably for my entire holiday.
I haven’t been taken them long so I don’t know what’s going to happen if I stop today? Will the bleeding stop or get worse? Everyday I’ve carried on hoping they will settle but I’ve read online how people have bled for months and Months and this is not what I want. Please tell me your experiences! Thankyou so much help me! It’s getting me down so much!

In similar situation, wondering whether to stop because I’ve been flooding. What did you end up doing?

Hi OP and Spillerglitter. I'm revitalising this thread as perhaps others, like me, would be interested. Did your periods settle soon after? I really hope they did.

Hiya. Unfortunately I had to stop taking the mini pill as it caused be really, really bad anxiety. Like night sweats and waking up feeling dread and anxious all day. The bleeding however did stop while I was taking it, not sure if that was a coincidence or not. I had surgery a few weeks after this for something unrelated and it took 3 months for my period to come back - which actually isn’t unusual for me anyway as I have pcos - but when it did start I bleed for almost 4 weeks again. A lot of it heavy. I’d been prescribed transamic (sp?) acid but that didn’t really do anything. I think I might be perimenopausal because even though I’m irregular I’m regularly irregular if that makes sense?! But these last 4-5 periods have been sooooo different. The gynae also said it would make sense if I’m not having a period for 2-3 months that I would get heavy/prolonged ones when they do arrive - but it’s never happened in the 20+ years before!

I'm sorry to hear that the mini pill caused such bag anxiety for your. Hopefully that's gone away now. How old are you? Has the doctor suggested it's perimenopause and have you had any scans? Hopefully your bleeding will regulate soon.

Yes the anxiety stopped almost immediately after stopping the pill. I will be 38 in July. I had a pelvic ultrasound back in October, they were unconcerned.

That's very encouraging that it's nothing sinister but hope the bleeding settles. Have you considered mirena?

They suggested it as an option but I’ve heard mixed reports about it.

Hopefully you will find a solution to stop the crazy bleeds. It's draining. Fingers crossed for you.
