Is it normal for csection bleeding to restart?

Anonymous because embarassing

Im 4 weeks post c section, 5 weeks tomorrow. my bleeding stopped about 12-10 days ago and I’ve had the odd normal yellow/clear lochia but yesterday my bleeding restarted. Its quite light but visibly fresh red blood and pink.
It seems too soon to be a period.

Is it normal for bleeding to restart after its stopped?

Since my csection I’ve had a bad infection which I’ve had treatment for but being paranoid I have an infection in my womb as I’ve had some abdominal aching which I’m sure is normal

FYI I did a long walk yesterday so maybe that triggered it.

Don’t rely on mumsnet answers for this one. Ring 111 and get an answer from the professionals. Or contact the hospital where you gave birth, the midwives there should be able to advise. Take care 🤗

Lochia does stop and start quite a bit! For me it lasted 8 weeks both times but that is longer than average.

If the actual incision bleeds, on your tummy not out of your vagina I mean, then I'd go to a+e (just clarifying that because your thread title made me think that's what you meant)

Ive had like 3 months bleeding and lochia after c section... and my periods returned 4 weeks after the c section aswell... 🙄you could be from the lucky ones too who get their period right away.. still if worried contact your midwive/gp
