What is wrong with my vagina?

So very recently my husband and I have upped our game in the bedroom, it’s been a lot better and subsequently a lot more frequent as we are both enjoying it more. I assume this is relevant.

we’ve gone from once a week to almost every day.

I am susceptible to post coital uti’s, and had one last week (self diagnosed and self treated with 3 days nitrofurabtoin). All cleared, back to the bedroom, all good.

then yesterday I started feeling a burning on my vulva. It’s around the urethra sure but also at the vaginal opening and around the clitoris. I wondered if i was getting yet another uti. However it hasn’t progressed to the bladder pain, frequent urination etc and seems to be focussed externally.

it is worse after I’ve been for a wee for quite a bit after.

im wondering if it is thrush but there’s no discharge and no redness, swelling or itching.

could it be anything else I’ve missed? I am absolutely not concerned about sti’s.

thanks in advance

Have you been using lube? Sex toys? Having anal then vaginal sex?

bracemyselfagain · 04/05/2024 09:13

Sounds like an irritation rather than an infection

ZippyZappyZoo · 04/05/2024 09:14

Lube as needed, same brand we’ve used for ages. No sex toys together, only privately. I always clean them after each use. We don’t have anal sex

I'd start by getting a swab for an infection. Could be yeast, BV, just irritation from the sex. If you've taken antibiotics for the UTI, thrush quite possible.

Sometimes it's just getting a bit older for a range of reasons that may be to do with DH rather than you, but I'll avoid going into details.

Good luck.

Thank you. Soooo frustrating. I just want to enjoy sex with my husband and now it’s off the cards again! Especially frustrating since we are child free tonight 😩

@ZippyZappyZoo
Did you solve this as I have the same?

ShillingForLabour · 17/07/2024 09:56

Stubble rash from your DH going down?

TheRozzers · 17/07/2024 11:58

Sounds like Vulvovaginitis? Make sure you wash after sex ideally with white vinegar in the bath. Not very romantic I know.

ZippyZappyZoo · 17/07/2024 16:38

@badtothewee i did. I realised it was too much washing, due to the uti I was washing before and after sex plus at least one another normal shower a day and it upset the sensitive skin there.

I stopped washing before and after, although still showered twice a day and switched from femfresh to dermol which is an emollient so more gentle.

I also used diprobase ointment twice a day to moisturise and within a few days the pain had gone and hasn’t returned.

I now use the diprobase as and when I need it which isn’t too often and now only wash with the dermol lotion. Still 1-2x per day.

good luck!

@ZippyZappyZoo
Thanks for replying. I'm wondering if I've irritated my bits somehow

ZippyZappyZoo · 18/07/2024 10:16

Anything new going on?

@ZippyZappyZoo
Loads of weeing, bruised feeling clitoris which is possibly urethra and sore bits, waiting on another call from the doctors and lab results
