Medical abortion

Scheduled a medical abortion for next week, where I will be around 8 weeks pregnant. I'm terrified, not going to lie.
I know there's loads of success stories and people only tend to talk about the bad.
I know it will hurt and there will be blood. I'm more scared of retained products where I will need surgery though. Has anyone got any experience of a medical abortion or retained products? What happened?

It's a pill you take with water. You're unlikely to feel anything. Your hormones will be up and down for a bit afterwards but as horrid as it sounds you should be able to tell whether everything has been expelled within a few hours of taking the pill, if not a lot sooner. It's very quick.

'You're just likely to feel anything' this is absolutely incorrect!

You'll have painful cramping for a few hours and might vomit from them - be prepared for this and have all the 'period pain n' equipment like hot water bottles. They will only prescribe you paracetamol but if you can get stronger pain killers or a tens machine do get one. Don't try and do anything else like childcare or work on this day.

If you can have someone kind with you then please organize that. I did it alone and I wish I had someone to cuddle or hold my hand.

Ps the blood just looks like a heavy period which will be a relief to see when you don't want to be pregnant any more

Unexpectedlysinglemum - if you're going to quote someone please get it right.

I suspect not everyone has the same experience.

Thank you for your comments. Internet is filled with such horror stories isn't it :( not looking forward to bleeding for weeks and then doing a test to even see if it worked :( ill get some codeine in and get the hot water bottle ready!

@Bloops how did it go?
I am going to
insert the 4 tablets in the morning and I have health anxiety and am terrified! How was your experience?

I never had any pain not even when I birthed my baby (13 weeks) but I did stop bleeding and now all of a sudden I’m bleeding quite a bit it’s been 3weeks I told someone over phone yesterday but they seemed like it was normal but I literally stopped now I’m passing clots and it’s even heavier today than yesterday
