Worst period pain EVER

So, I'm 43. Mum to 2 boys and I'm having the worst period pain in my life.
I've had alot of painful periods over the last couple of years but this one is making me cry. I had my left ovary removed when I was 15 because of a massive cyst. I had a private reassurance scan October 2022. The only abnormalities were a bulky uterus and a couple of small fibroids.
Surely small fibroids wouldn't be causing so much pain?? My periods aren't heavy and these days they only last 3 or 4 days.

I do have anxiety and I'm desperately trying not to let my thoughts spiral. Any insight would be appreciated, thank you.

Fibroids can grow rapidly in your 40s. If they degenerate they can cause a lot of stabbing/cramping pain which can be quite bad. Please have another scan to check their size, location and consider treatment - unless they are very small and not the reason for your discomfort

Yes, go to the doctors and get yourself checked out @Frownlines. Good luck and hope they deal with it quickly

@SoftPillowAllNight and @Igmum thank you for replying. The pain is just really intense. My upper abdomen is really tender aswell. I've just completed a GP contact request so hopefully they'll get back to me pretty soon.

If they don't then go to A&E. I hope it turns out to be something easily fixed.
