I have chronic bv, it comes back every month, nomatter if I treat it or not. I'm currently due my period and I'm getting symptoms again after treating after my last period!!

I've tried tablets,
Prescription creams you put in there
Lactic acid gels
Wearing cotton underwear washed in non bio
Using sanex 0% to wash my body

I've had a full sti test privately, including mycoplasma and ureaplasma but all that keeps coming back is gardenella.

My female gp has very unhelpfully said "it's just something il have to live with" but I'm concerned that it will eventually damage my fertility and pelvic organs!!!

If anyone else has dealt with this and can help me I'd be forever grateful.

@Dededadada Have you tried boric acid mixed with coconut oil? It makes me bleed if I use it alone. I started to fill the capsules with 2/3 boric acid and 1/3 coconut oil and it did the job for me without bleeding. It's probably worth a try.

Il give it a go thanks!

Do you have a coil?? I had repeated BV but removing the coil sorted it

Out of interest, where are people getting boric acid pessaries from?

I got my boric acid in pure powdered form from Amazon, but this was many years ago and I’m not sure if it’s still available. It was ‘food grade’ powder. I got empty vegetarian capsules from eBay, and coconut oil from the health shop (the pure stuff which is solid when cold).

It’s now known that it can recirculate from your sexual partner, if you have one.

Do a search for pure boric, a friend’s gynae recommended them, so that’s what I use.

Unfortunately I'm not often sexually active, but we have both been treated. I've still had it come back anyways, I think my microbiome is wrecked tbh.

What's your sugar/carb intake in your diet like? If youre not already, maybe giving a solid month or so of really low GI foods, combined with everything else you can throw at it would help. Eat lots of live yoghurt with lactobacillus in too (limited evidence for this but worth trying nonetheless!). You must be so fed up with it constantly returning.

blablablagobshite · 03/04/2025 23:58

You want Wellguard “Vitaflora” vitamins you can buy them online it’s the only thing that worked for me after everything else (boric acid helped a little bit). These sorted it in 4 days and I take them every other day ongoing and it’s not come back .
