Had Mirena changed on 15th
All went fine apart from it hurt an awful lot more than I remember but that's not what I'm here about.
Immediately afterwards I was bleeding and needed a towel, dripping when I went for a wee - again don't remember bleeding that much afterwards last time

My question is, why am I now spotting and then not and all up and down again?

My old one was all settled and I am always every 28 days but so light I don't need to use anything. Heavy periods is my main reason for having it. Without it my periods are so heavy I can't lead a normal life and it affects my work needing the loo every twenty mins etc

New one put in and I assumed I would just carry on like normal but after fitting and the bleeding stopped from the actual insertion, I was fine.
2 days ago I started with brown discharge and thought ok, that's the dregs from insertion bleeding.
Now today I am bleeding red again
I am assuming I'm going to restart all the random spotting and brown stuff for almost a year again like after the last one was fitted?
It was so annoying. 2 days fine. Then brown. Then nothing. Then red. Then brown. Then nothing etc so I constantly feel grubby

Is this how it is after every change? I assumed I would just carry on like normal as a like for like swap and I was all settled?

I am on my second and it has been more than 6 months and still no setting.....

I had a Mirena in, took 3 months to settle, then no periods for 6 months. Then I began spotting 3 weeks out of every 4, and had it removed, where I then bled so heavily I have to get tranexamic acid and another tablet (I forget the name now) to stop the bleeding. Nightmare, never again

First mirena in 2014-2017 a dream

Second one 2021-2022 could wait to have it out. Don't regret it for one millisecond. Shitty things, imo it was time for the male to take responsibility. I'd had enough 🤣

I would imagine it's in part the disruption to the womb, and in part the hormones in the new Mirena. Your old one should have run out of those.

I had a gap between Mirenas and had a few months of spotting before it settled.

See also: insertions of the second was way more painful than I remember the first one!! I actually screamed. Hadn't expected that!

*couldn't wait

I tolerated it for one miserable year, never settled. Totally unpredictable and now back to normal and predictable (age 44)
