Hysteroscopy D&C under GA this morning

And the cramps are constant and I can't stop crying...

Anyone got any pearls of supportive wisdom about how long it's going to take to stop cramping? I've been sobbing on and off for about 8hrs and paracetemol are doing absolutely nothing to help.

I can't take ibuprofen.

Have tried hot water bottles, nothing happening, plus they are making me hot and cross.

Can someone tell me they had this and woke up the next morning and the world was a better place?

Sorry no pearls of wisdom but don’t want to read and run. Is Cocodomol a possibility? I also can’t take ibuprofen but find this helps when more than paracetamol is needed - which is rarely. Hope you feel better soon. 💐

Oh dear, that's rough.

Try a warm bath.

Do you have any diazepam ? It helps with cramps.

Otherwise lots of wine ?

I have bowel disease so shouldn't take ibuprofen but for the occasional situation like this it usually doesn't cause an issue - depending on why you can't take it, maybe as a one off it might help?

Also did they give you a contact number for the ward that looked after you post op?

Maybe you could call them if the pain really is unmanageable.

CherieBabySpliffUp · 04/04/2024 23:37

That sounds rough. Did they say when you were discharged if all went to plan?
I've had two and didn't suffer as badly as you are. I'm assuming that you have someone with you? Could they take you to A&E if needs be?

As I am approaching 58 its too long ago for me to remember how I physically felt after the procedure. However that level of discomfort doesn’t sound right.

As hot water bottle isn’t working, try an ice pack.

Hi you are all lovely for replying thank you. Yes DH is here but he's just gone to bed and I don't want to bother him, I cant drive after the GA. I'm in the spare room for comfort. If I rang the hospital they might say he can collect painkillers but I'll see how bad it is early morning and ask him to go before work.

I might try a bath, I wasn't sure if I should but my brain is just so mushed I hadn't looked it up. Will Google.

I'm taking my paracetemol every 3hrs which I know isn't the done thing but I figured that it's a one off.

We have ibuprofen but I'm asthmatic so have never taken it because it says not to on the packet.

I'm just feeling so sorry for myself, I keep doing that sticky out bottom lip thing that children do when they are about to cry.

I really just want someone to tell me the cramps will ease off. I feel like a totally pathetic person.

@CherieBabySpliffUp they said take it easy and might need a hot water bottle.

I had a thumping headache all day so I went in the garden this afternoon for some fresh air, I thought I could clear the cramps like when I'm on a period I do loads of movement and it helps. Well it didn't help!

You can't have a bath after that procedure for about 2 weeks. So sorry you are having such a tough time.

Couldthishurtanymore · 04/04/2024 23:51

@TheSoundThatIWasHearing thank you for saving me the Google 😊crappy news though!

Don't have a bath your wounds are too fresh ATM.

Couldthishurtanymore · 05/04/2024 00:03

@TerrysOrangeScot thank you. I was just worried about water going in my cervix. No wounds other than in my uterus. I hope..

I had a similar op a couple of months back and found Buscopan Cramps (the period one not the stomach one) plus paracetamol helped. Someone on here recommended it!

also yes, codeine plus paracetamol- but I can only take codeine occasionally as it gives me stomach cramps… as does ibuprofen.

I really feel for you, it’s awful! But it will improve. For me I started to feel better after about 2.5 weeks after the Hysteroscopy (and polyp removal) but your procedure is different so I’m not sure of those recovery times.

if pain is severe, call the surgery ward! They should have discharged you with their number.

Couldthishurtanymore · 05/04/2024 00:26

@Whatapickle78 thanks so much for all the advice.

Might send DH out for that as well as for some heavy painkillers if it's still this bad in the morning.

Not sure if the crying is more related to the anaesthetic or because I feel crap, or both.

I'm watching Bridget Jones for the gazzilionth time for comfort.

I'm normally asleep for hours by this time of the day 😥
