Dd16 suffers every month with painful periods and really bad mood swings. She’s not sexually active yet.

When I was her age I was put on the combined pill for similar reasons. I've always found it to be the best and I was gutted when they wouldn't prescribe it anymore because I was too old. Since then I've tried the mini pill and coil but the combined pill was the best, I loved the fact that I could skip a period should I need to.

I do think it's trail and error with hormonal contraception though, what suits one woman might not suit another. That's why I'd start out with the combined pill because it's easy to stop if she has problems with it unlike the implant, injection etc.
