Last day of period suddenly heavy flow

Just looking to see if this is normal really.

On what I thought would be the last day of my period. Woke up and had not bled overnight at all and through the morning just a tiny amount of brownish blood. All very normal for what is usually my last day of the period. Changed my pad about 90 mins ago and have now just popped to the loo and the pad is fairly full with bright red blood and also the toilet bowl when urinating is bloody as well (which is normal for me on day one and two).

Have never had this happen before - usually my periods just tail off and are only this heavy the first two days. I'm now 40 though so wondering if this was possibly peri-menopause related?

Thanks

I've had this over the last few years, also it finishing and then coming back a few days later! I think it's def menopause related.

Mine was peri menopause. Was a damned nuisance. Went through tampon and pad in seconds, absolutely no warning.

Happened to a friend in the cinema, right through to the seat she was sitting in.

@Stropalotopus83 was this just a one off for you? I've had the exact same thing happen to me this month which has worried me as I'm regular as clockwork and had my usual period like how you describe then on the day it should have finished I suddenly had quite a heavy flow for a few hours then it tailed off throughout the day. I'm nearly 40 so am thinking it is just hormones, but it's playing on my mind a bit as its unusual for me 🙈
