Lukorrhea vs Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)

Hi,
I'm nearly 21 weeks pregnant and have had what I think is leukorrhea since week 1. I've recently learned that you can have BV without any of the usual symptoms (the smell).

I've heard that untreated BV can cause pregnancy complications, including miscarriage - but I'm not sure if that's true for those who have made it into their 2nd trimester?

I'm now wondering how pregnant people are meant to know whether they have BV or not, surely we shouldn't need to have a random swab taken every couple of months during pregnancy?

Any thoughts/comments/information?
