Mirena coil and headaches - better or worse?

I'm having a hysteroscopy soon and the doctor has recommended having a mirena coil fitted at the same time.
They need to look at the lining which had gone thicker so possible endometriosis and some other words that I can't remember. Clots are worse than they used to be which is why she's recommended this coil.
She said that it will also help with hormonal headaches which I really suffer from, but the leaflet says that there's a possible side effect of headaches by having the mirena fitted.
What is your experience?

Has Mirena coil given me headaches and migraines? | Mumsnet

Have you seen this thread?

I had Kyleena not Mirena, and while it didn't give me headaches (well, I had them anyway...) it gave me awful cramps and weird sensations. I had it removed. But that was done privately & so I called the shots. I have read about women having to argue for removal in the NHS, which seems absurd.

There has been class action litigation in the US I believe against the manufacturers. Some people get on well with it & others don't.

Hi I swapped from Yasmin pills after 10 years bc they gave me palpitations but apart from that I was fine on them for years. Since I started on the Co...

I've suffered a lot with headaches and migraines, always worse when I've been pregnant so a definite hormonal link. I've had my mirena in for 6 months now and they have definitely reduced 😊

No headaches experienced, use to get them with periods a couple of years back. Have the Mirena for now.

The smell isn't very nice when in the bathroom. From someone who use to work in care and so familiar with urine type/bodily fluid smells. Woke up one morning this week with period pains and a small spot of blood, I don't know if I did to much exercise (did an hour and a hours walk in one go) and that's what brought it on, not even been a month.

Just feel I swapped one problem for another under the guise of this being treatment for something that didn't even exist, yet my childless cousin who is sexually active is refused. Apparently waiting weeks for the opportunity to get it out.

Awful headaches for me for the first month or two.

But I used to get awful headaches before my period and the progesterone is the same (albeit synthetic).

Also makes me sleep really deeply which I hate, I am permanently tired and I never have nice dreams any more, only stressful ones.

But I'm not flooding any more so it's swings and roundabouts!

I have the mirena for my HRT so it's the best of a bad bunch.
