Hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic

Hi, I have been having disordered menstrual bleeding for the last year, and a scan shows a small fibroid and a slightly thicker than expected endometrium. I already have Mirena coil but it isn't working as it used to (only 2 years old, my 2nd one)
I had an appointment at hospital this week where I had an endometrial biopsy. I'm going to be having a hysteroscopy under GA as the consultant wants to remove the fibroid and put in a new coil.

My question is, does anyone know what the recovery time is like? Assuming it'll be 24-48hrs for the anaesthetic? Keen to have as little time off sick as possible due to past sickness.

I was back working from home the day after mine so for me pretty short. I think it was the day after that I was back commuting abd in the office.

I had one. I went in very early and was home by lunchtime. Felt quite sick afterwards but otherwise ok. Spent the afternoon and evening on the sofa being waited on but other than feeling a bit delicate I was ok. Stayed at home the next day (only because I was told 24hours rest) and back to work after that.

Thank you both, that's very reassuring!

Had this as a day procedure on a Monday, the procedure took no more then a hour, got over it quickly to be back at work on a Wednesday and was in a swimming pool 24 hours on and driving. My small fibroid had disappeared apparently and yet they still fitted a coil 🤔

Should be fine the next day depending on your reaction to GA. I had it done whilst awake and was fine the next day.

I actually asked if I could have it under local instead, as the biopsy was fine with no anaesthetic at all. They said no, as the won't remove the fibroid unless I'm under GA.
I was very, very sick for a couple of days after my last GA, hopefully that won't be the case this time!

Ahhhh, name change fail...

I had this, and I was absolutely fine. I took it easy for the rest of the day and then back to normal the day after. It was nice to have a bit of a rest Grin Hope it goes well for you.
