Hi everyone. I’ll try and keep this short but I hope someone here has had something similar to me that they can share or give advice on. Has anybody experienced swelling under their clitoral hood and had a cyst on the actual hood?
I got visually diagnosed with lichen sclerosis a couple months ago when I went to see a gyno about the swelling. I had no idea I even had this lichen sclerosis (LS) so it was a lot to process. She said the swelling could be indirectly caused by the LS and she gave me steroid cream. A few weeks later the cyst on my hood shows up. Not painful just super itchy. I’ve had cysts on that area in the past but it’s usually one every couple years and I can usually drain them myself in a hot bath when they’re ready. This one however has been particularly stubborn.
I went to a different gyno after the cream wasn’t working for the swelling and over the cyst. She visually confirmed LS. She said the swelling under the hood could be causing the cyst and I had some antibiotics off her. These actually seemed to really help and everything almost went back to normal. But then the cyst got aggravated a couple weeks later when I tried to drain it as I noticed a head on it. So I go to the hospital to yet a different gyno. He also visually confirms LS. He gives me cream again for the cyst. This did draw out some (sorry TMI) pus out of it and after a week it was better but not gone.
So I attended the hospital AGAIN last week as this was for my actual LS. I’d been waiting for this appointment since first being diagnosed. This gyno says she wants to take a biopsy from my skin to confirm LS and also remove the cyst under general anaesthetic to have it tested as she’s not sure if I do have LS or what the cyst is. She didn’t prescribe me anything for either because she didn’t know what to prescribe until testing. She said she could give me more antibiotics but wasn’t keen on the idea.
My pre op is in 2 weeks, and I have no date for the op.
So has anybody here experienced anything similar to me?? Especially with the cyst and swelling. The cyst and under the hood swelling are really the things that are bothering me and I want it gone. The cyst is not painful but so itchy and irritates me on a day to day basis. It’s also impeding on mine and my partners sex life which is frustrating as I’ve had it for over a month now.
I used some magnesium sulphate paste on it the other night, this drew it to a head yesterday which did drain on its own. But it’s not reduced in size and now it doesn’t have the head on it. I put more on last night but not much changes this morning.
I’m considering calling the gyno again today and just asking her for more antibiotics as these seemed to be the only thing that have worked so far. I am risking thrush and immunity as I had 2 weeks worth about 4 weeks ago but the thought of putting up with this cyst for possibly another 6 weeks with no relief is just awful.
Any advice would be much appreciated 💖
