Mirena Coil

I had a Mirena coil fitted a couple of weeks ago. All has been fine, apart from it feels slightly uncomfortable, like a tampon does if it's not positioned correctly. Has anyone else had this? I have brought my check-up appointment forward, and I would like to keep it in but it's really starting to bug me.

Perhaps it is too low down? They can check that out at your appointment. If it is sited too low down then I don't know whether they can reposition it or whether they will have to remove it and start again.

I didn't get on with the mirena anyway, but for different reasons.

It does sound like it’s out or coming out. When’s your appt? Do they have a nurse in the surgery that does coil checks that could see you quicker?

My strings felt low so the GP had a look & poked it a bit 😳 she said it seemed ok but sent me for a scan to check. It had moved down & as they also saw a few other things I was referred to gynae. I’ve been today & the consultant removed it & fitted a new one.

Thanks @Topseyt123 Hopefully they can just reposition it 🤞

Oh gosh I was just about to post here, thank you.

Had mine fitted Monday, yesterday evening I really thought I had a eureka moment that I could touch my toes during one of the moves at Aqua Aerobics.

But Today different kettle of fish, I’m on the 4th time of bowels open and as the day has worn on it’s got worse, sitting on the park and ride small pull down seats was murder - yep it feels like a half tampon in when you don’t have the heavy right flow for using such a thing. I been reading they just fall out but then the smear nurse last week did make me see I’ve got really tight pelvic floor muscles.

They did just make me stop Cerezette abruptly too.

So uncomfortable isn't it @Guttedme. I have read they can fall out too, but usually only after a period 😩

My first one moved and was too low down. They had to remove it and put a new one in. This one has been fine.
I could really feel the pressure and sort of dragging feeling of the first.

Frazzled2108 · 06/03/2024 22:16

Ah yes @LilacLemur that's how it feels. Thanks!

You shouldn't be able to feel it - had mine 4 years
