Periods/hormones after having kids?

I'll try to make it short!
I have 3y DS and 2y DD, was breastfeeding until Nov 22
Periods have been back to regular cycle for well over 9 months now, and May last year I had some pre-cancerous cells removed from cervix
Been waiting for hormones to go back to normal, I guess that should be the case now so long after pregnancy and stopping BF.

Issues are - intense lower back pain for the week before and first few days of period - it takes my breath away sometimes, over the counter pain medication doesn't touch it.
Extremely heavy flow - like a highest absorbency tampon lasting about 2h at peak flow.
Some periods (and so sorry about this) are SO clotty, others are not at all clotty.
They last almost 2 weeks now.

For clarity before having the kids I had no issues around periods at all, barely any pain, medium flow, lasted about 5-7 days, but I was on the mini pill for years.

Could there be an issue going on?
I've heard some things about GP not being particularly helpful or knowledgeable in this dept, anyone got any advice or suggestions for me?
TIA

Have you had your follow up smear yet?
Did they confirm the had removed clear margins when you had the letz done?
Return to GP and ask to be referred back to colp clinic.

How old are you?
It seems women who have been breastfeeding for a while experience peri- menopause type symptoms when they stop.

Another one who wants to know your age, I stopped bf at 42 a was straight into long heavy peri periods, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. Having a Mirena fitted sorted them.

Thank you, I'm trying to avoid hormonal contraception now but would gladly change my mind if that would help!
I'm 34
