Itchy legs in the winter

During the winter, or when it gets colder, I get really itchy legs mainly by calfs and ankles. They get so itchy it keeps me awake at night sometimes. Has anyone else had this? Any way to get rid?

Moisturiser.

I’ve tried that but it doesn’t help. It does provide a respite for a few hours though.

I was going to say moisturiser as well. But maybe with an Antihistamine? One of those one a day like cetrizine or loratadine? If it's keeping you awake, maybe portion might help as it can make some people feel drowsy?

I get this, I use heavy duty moisturiser e.g E45 cream every night and avoid hot showers or baths which definitely aggravates it.

I found it’s the central heating that makes me itch. I have some little pots of water on two radiators (one in my room and one downstairs), and that seems to deal with it. Moisturiser has little effect.

A heavy duty moisturizer not scented light stuff. After every wash, religiously. The calf/ankles seem to be more prone to drying especially where socks are. I recommend La Roche Posay - they do a very thick balm which I found brilliant for this. Winter cold can be very dehydrating
