So TMI before I start it's about periods and all that.
So I've been struggling really bad since my daughter was born with extremely bad periods they can last up to 6 weeks and I sometimes only get 1-4 weeks in between bleeding. They are always extremely heavy. I generally cannot leave the house for more than 1 hour when this is going on. I have had a scan, hystroscopy and biopsy done and all have shown to be fine. I have ran out of patience, I'm in a lot of pain and constantly low in iron because of this. My doctors "cure" is to give me birth control which I get bad side effects off. If anyone has ever had anything like this or know what this could be. Please get back to me, I'm out of ideas. Thanks.

For reference I'm only 21, so menopause is hopefully a long way away. I really don't want this to affect my future ability to have children!

Well its caused by hormones thats why the cure should be hormones? Mirena coil?
If dont stop bleeding they might suggest hysterectomy, thats no better at your age as well
You need to try the things theyve suggested you , or call sexual clinic ? They know about such stuff

They have tried me on numerous types of "the pill" and suggested the coil which won't suit as I hope for another child in 2-3 years. I don't want to go through getting it in and out as my hospital is quite far. I'll see the doctor about another blood test to check my hormone levels, Thanks.

I had a similar situation and was basically told if I was unwilling to try the coil, there was little else they could do for me.

"Hospital is quite far" isn't relevant, you can have mirena coil fitted and removed at your GP surgery.

Not much help but as an older woman I had a procedure in gynaecology. I spent a good while in a waiting room and read all the leaflets about treatments for heavy periods. Treatments I'd never heard of, and I'd bet my GP hadn't heard of them either. So my advice is, access info from the specialists. Maybe we have some on MN who can point you in the right direction.

I have endometriosis and the mirena coil has been a life changer for me. I had a terrible time with the pill but no side effects with the mirena as the hormones are localised.

Unfortunately my GP won't give it, they won't even do smear tests. They will refer to the hospital for any gynae problems.

Is there a sexual health clinic near you? They would be able to insert the coil.
