Stabbing pain in my nipple at night

I’m 50 and probably in perimenopause though I still get my
periods but not regularly now ( no any other symptoms)

Anyway I got woken up quite few times last night by absolutely the worst stabbing pain ever in my left breast through the nipple mostly.
It was so painful that it made me actually cry!

When I changed position this stopped but I’m not sure how many times I turned at night, it all stopped at 6am when I lied on my back, I can only sleep on one side ( left ) as on the other I have a frozen shoulder.

Now my breast feels still sensitive but not stabbing pain as at night.

The other breast feels a bit sore too but not stabbing pain at night at all.
I had my breast checked just a week ago by GP.

Anyone gets these stabbing pains?
I’m always worry about my breast however this pain was really bad, like shooting pain inside nipple.

I used to get breast pain, for no apparent reason, I took high dose of Evening Primrose Oil and this really helped, so presume it was inflammation of some kind. When I ran out or forgot to take it regularly the pain would return.

Sometimes indigestion causes this in me, goes through to my boobs and nipple, not sure how! Maybe not the case with you but thought I would share my experience.

I usually get breast pain about a week before period is due, that’s was most of my life, however now being in Peri my periods coming infrequently. Like every 2-3 months so I don’t know if this is just a symptom of period due.
But I never had a such strong stabbing pain, it was coming like every few seconds shooting pain.
Now I think even the other nipple now hurts but not stabbing pain, just general sore.
