Awful post op recovery UAE - when will it feel better?

I had UAE five days ago to treat fibroids. I was expecting a couple of days pain and then to just be tired for a week or so.
I feel absolutely awful. I’m in constant pain and having to take lots of high strength pain killers to keep it in check. The worst thing is the nausea. It’s awful. Like morning sickness. Nothing tastes right, everything smells horrendous and I feel sick non stop. Even with anti sickness medication.
is this normal? How long do I have to suffer this for before I feel human again?

@SpectacularSalt - that's disappointing! I do hope the fibroid shrinks by Aug.

Mine is shrinking slowly at the rate of 1cm per month so not much relief yet but fingers crossed. Meanwhile I still have very heavy periods!!

Did they say why hasn't it worked or why you suffered more than average?
Glad you are at least not feeling unwell anymore..

I just thought I’d post back on here, 6 months down the line. I had my follow up MRI to see if the fibroids has shrunk. The answer is no. Well, by a teeny tiny 1mm. 😩

So I feel like all the pain and suffering I went through was for nothing. I’m waiting for a follow up appointment to discuss my options. I think it will be either put up with the bastards or consider a hysterectomy. Neither of which feel like positive choices. But there we are.

@SpectacularSalt - oh no! That's so disappointing!

I think with UAE it's a bit of a lottery. Mine has shrunk 66% which is considered a very good outcome.

I hope I'm not coming across as boastful but for anyone who references this thread - I'd want them to know that there can be different outcomes.

I hope you find a way forward. fingers crossed for you.

@SpectacularSalt I have been reading your post with interest as I am still suffering 10 days after a hysteroscopy with intense nausea, dizziness & fatigue. It feels just like morning sickness.

My heart goes out to you & I'm so sorry to hear you went through this.

I have no useful advice to offer but I just wanted to thank you for sharing your experience. It makes me feel less unusual in my own recovery.
