Hair loss..

I didn't know where to post this..

This is really affecting my mental health now.

I had beautiful, long, super thick hair 6 years ago. Then when my eldest was a year old it started to come out in clumps.

The only time I’ve noticed it doesn’t fall is when I am on the combined pill. It stops falling and grows well when I’m on that. But I don’t want to really be on that?

My hair hasn’t been dyed since Christmas, it’s shedding so much every day. I seem to have had no growth but I’ve got loads of short grey hairs?? Anyone else have this?

I don’t know what to do. I’ve spent hundreds on various vitamins and serums. I've had bloods and the only thing was slightly low iron which has now been corrected.

I have just seen your post! Are you taking anything for it now?
I have had a problem too.
I have had some progress with supplements. I will be taking saw palmetto, biotin and multivitamins which have a good amount of iron, zinc, vit D etc) ongoing. I also stopped dying my hair, and have been using gentle shampoo and a laser cap.
I tried henna hair dye recently and experienced quite a lot of shedding, so I won’t use that again.

Some people recommend Viviscal.

Good luck OP.

It can be incredibly frustrating and impact your mental health. It's great that you've been proactive in trying various vitamins and serums and addressing any underlying issues like low iron.
Considering your experience with the combined pill, it might be worth discussing other hormone-based treatments or options with your healthcare provider. Additionally, focusing on a healthy diet, managing stress, and gentle hair care practices may also help.

How old are you and do you know how old your DM was at menopause? Unfortunately hair thins with age and change of hormones. The hair loss when your DC was one is totally normal. It's just losing the extra thick hair you get while pregnant due to the hormones.
