Collagen - reduced appetite

Hello everyone, I’ve started collagen to help my joints, hair and nails but a week in I’ve also noticed I feel more satisfied after meals, I’m snacking less and feel fuller quicker. In fact if I overeat I don’t feel well! I generally eat healthily, eating break foods over processed but this is encouraging me to eat better.

i am overweight, so I’m hoping this side effect may improve my weight sort of accidentally. I would be happy to loose 2 stone. Has anyone experienced this?

i started taking it after Christmas and, interesting you say this. I hadn’t really noticed but I’m definitely less peckish than usual. Could be the winter effect.

I haven’t noticed a spectacular decrease in hair loss or gain, except I noticed this week that my eyelashes look longer 😊

@Getabloominmoveon amazing! Keep me updated, I’m really interested to see how others get on with this too

@Getabloominmoveon how are you doing? My appetite is still better / more structured and I feel better. I haven’t weighed myself, just going to persevere for now

Can I ask what collagen you are taking? I've recently lost about 3 stone and I have lots of loose skin. I'm hoping some collagen will help.

I've recently spent a few weeks in Iceland and they have collagen drinks EVERYWHERE. It seems collagen is really big up there.

What type of college are you taking? I take the powder, mixed with yoghurt on a morning. Or in coffee, if I am not having breakfast. I have also lost weight. I wanted to start eating healthier, but I found I was far less hungry.

Well, collagen is a protein, so it will be working to keep you feeling fuller for longer if you are ingesting it at significant quantities, whether you are taking it for that reason or not.

It’s interesting about collagen in Iceland, I’m going to look into that.

I’m taking absolute collagen sachets, they are rank but are keeping me full. I am having three meals a day, but smaller portions and I’m making healthier food choices other than the share bar of dairy milk Saturday

@Alwaystransforming i might give the powder a go. Absolute is quite expensive

How is everyone getting on? I definitely feel fuller and I’m snacking less so even if I don’t loose weight it’s a win for me.

I feel the same!! Only just started taking the vital powder last week, and I checked the ingredients as I kept feeling really full afterwards - it has quite a bit of protein so that’s why.

I was recommended the Vital powder on another thread, reviews all look great and much cheaper than the sachets

I’ve been away for 2 weeks, lots of dinners, drinking etc but weighed myself and no gain. I’m definitely less hungry but maybe that’s also because I eat less carbohydrate and more protein in general these days. Still quite porky though!
On the hair front, I seem to be losing less.
