Mirena coil

I had the Mirena coil put in due to really long periods, lasting around 2/3 weeks since giving birth a year ago.

I've had it in now for nearly four months and out of that time have only not been bleeding for around 20 days.

I'm so fed up by it. All the doctor does is prescribe medication to make it temporary stop. And then the whole cycle starts again.

I don't know if the coil is making it worse and if I should have it out or if it will be even worse if I have it taken out...

Does anyone have any advice or been through similar?

At 6 months I asked for mine out, at 7 I stopped bleeding and I love it now. Keep going.

Stick with it if you can I persevered and think it's great now.

Took me around 9 months before I stopped having light bleeds and now it's been 2 years and it's amazing!

I persevered for well over a year before the near-constant bleeding stopped and am really glad I did! No more horrendous heavy periods and not anaemic for the first time in about 20 years. Might be worth waiting longer to see what happens.

Took a year for my bleeding to get really
ligbt but it is amazing now and wouldn’t have it out.

I spotted on and off (mostly on) for months and months. Now the odd spotting when I’m due my period. I love it, it’s brilliant.

Mrsworried1 · 17/02/2024 22:13

Nearly 13 months into having mine and I think my most recent spotting/bleeding streak is now 32 days…. I think I’ve only had two weeks of no spotting or bleeding in the whole 13 months. I’m fed up and gynae weren’t interested, im
back in June, to get booked for an ablation (I had the coil fitted because I was constantly spotting, it was meant to fix it!)
I wonder if there’s still hope lol x

At 9 months of constant bleeding, thinning hair and absolutely horrendous reoccurring thrush I had mine out. My periods have been heavy since though.

Oh ladies it's not much fun is it.
I have a face to face appointment soon to discuss again with my GP as I'm so sick of this. I've now been bleeding for over 6 weeks with only a few days off only due to taking norethisterone.
