Ovarian Cyst, 3 scans now a CA125?

Hello,

I’m new to this but find mumsnet SO useful for finding others going through similar situations.

Last July I had a scan after going to the GP about erratic menstruation. I was told that I had a 2cm cyst on my right ovary and that as she thought it resembled and endometrioma, I’d be sent again for another in 3 months time. In October I went for my follow up scan to be told the 2cm ovary had grown to 5cm and that I now had a 2cm ovary on my left ovary too. Neither looked suspicious but that I should have another scan, again in 3 months time. So two weeks ago I went for my third scan and neither cyst had grown significantly, but the 5cm cyst had grown slightly. I looked at my notes which read that the 5cm cyst is a ‘simple septate cyst’ which when I’ve googled doesn’t really make sense as they are either septate or simple. Either way, I then got a call from my doctor saying that I would need a CA125 done next week and if it’s high I’ll be on ‘2ww’? But if not, it would be an urgent referral to gynae.

Now, me being silly googled what a CA125 was and obviously now feel a bit panicked. Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this protocol? Or could something more be going on? I don’t know but my mind is all over the show now!

It’s protocol, don’t panic.

Surely it's just protocol op as it is a cyst after all, I'm sure it'll be a normal overt cyst 😁
