So I am suffering with a uti and got some antibiotics online yesterday taken 3 tablets and still in pain. Is this normal? How long do they take to work? I was only given 6 tablets and so I'm half way through with little improvement.

Yes, it can take a few days. Was that a 3 day prescription of nitrofurantoin? Phone the service you got them from back to discuss?

A pharmacist can often prescribe them for you in person and it can be faster than online - phone a local pharmacy to discuss before you go as not all of them have done the course to be qualified.

However you might be told to see a GP if you've already taken some antibiotics. I usually ask for 5 days as 3 days has often been too short for me.

Often you will see no improvement until the end of the course. I’ve heard that they now give out just 3 days worth. It’s not really enough

Ok thanks you have both confirmed what I thought as it's a while ago I last had one and I couldn't be sure but I thought I only started feeling better on day three then ran out and had to go back for more!

So silly 3 days is definitely not enough.

Try D-Mannose tablets or powder. Used to suffer from UTIs all the time and now I take the above.
