Itchy nipple and brown spot

Im just coming on here because I’m panicking a little bit and want to see if anyone has had similar.

This morning I noticed that my nipple was extremely itchy and had a burning sensation. I checked it and on the outside of the nipple there is a dark brown freckle/mole type spot, which hasn’t been there before.

There is also a small patch of red eczema type skin on my nipple too, but I have been itching so it could be from me itching it.

As you do I’ve googled and am now concerned that my symptoms are very similar to Paget’s disease, which is a type of breast cancer.

My GP had no appointments left today but have made me a face to face appointment for tomorrow at a centre that’s open on a Saturday.

Has anyone ever had this? I just want to know whether I’m right to be worried or if I’m over reacting

I should say I’m not pregnant or breast feeding, I’m 34 and there is no family history of breast cancer

You are absolutely right to get this checked, just in case.

Hi OP, I had this exact same thing a few years ago. I went for biopsy and it was eczema that had just appeared out of nowhere and only on the 1 nipple. Definitely get it checked out though.

I also googled and thought I had Pagets too!

Op how did you get on? I'm sat working to see my gp with exactly these symptoms and panicking away.

It was all absolutely fine so try not to worry, as hard as I know that is! She had a good look and checked them thoroughly and had no concerns. She prescribed some cream and it cleared it up, within a couple of days, it was just eczema. The brown spot was just a freckle and nothing to worry about 😊

That's good.
My GP had no concerns and has prescribed cream for the itchiness. She's referred me to the breast clinic but I know that's just for my peace of mind tbh.

It's just strange if it's eczema that's it's only one nipple ?

I got a nasty weeping sore on one hip bone. A week later I got the same on the other side. It was my jeans studs, but definitely affected one side first. Or it could be as simple as washing detergent not rinsed out of a bra completely in one cup.
