Hi ladies!

so the heard period clots are totally normal. We are trying to conceive and I know that I wasn’t pregnant, from testing up until the day my period started.

my period was on time, nothing unusual. I am however, bleeding so much, like SO MUCH.

Never had a period like this before, especially with the amount of clots that I’m passing, big ones as well.

I have recently moved, so I’m not at a doctors yet… so coming here for some advice.

should I be worried? I will attach a photograph of the clot that I’ve just had on my tampon.

thank you x

As I've got older I have had the odd period that's 'clottier' than others - this has happened to me a couple of times before and I've also had a decidual cast. I think periods change as our bodies change but always get checked if you're worried xx

I used to get clots like this many moons ago. It was normal for me - but I was always iron deficient and feeling rough.

Good you've taken a picture. Maybe book an appointment with someone in your local surgery who deals with women's issues??

Wow I wasn't expecting to see clouds that size. Definitely go to women's health

I have adenomyosis and pass clots this size, often up to five or six an hour for the first day or two. You should make an appointment with your GP and get checked, or you’ll end up anaemic. They can discuss options to lighten your periods, and make a gynae referral to find the cause.

Saxfie2021 · 26/01/2024 16:09

This is the only once I’ve passed today? And before this have never had them before. I will seek medical help, as trying for another baby and worrying this is what’s stopping me falling pregnant.

Wow OP. Definitely get this checked out and ask for your iron levels to be checked too.
I am currently having a heavier period than usual with some small clots (hence clicking on your post) but they are tiny compared to this.

Are you in any more pain than usual? Was your period late? Just wondering as mine is was 5 days late so I thought maybe there was more build up, so to speak.

I am not ttc but if I was and I had this I would get checked over.

Menomeno · 26/01/2024 16:55

There are a few conditions that can cause clotting - endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids etc and they all can affect fertility so definitely get checked if you’re trying to conceive. x

I get clots like this every month but if that isn't normal for you then you should get it checked.

EBearhug · 26/01/2024 17:00

I would ask my GP with a clot that size, especially if it's not usual for you. My peeiods have got clottier as I went through my 40s. It could all be that everything is fine, bit there's no harm in getting it checked.
