High blood pressure post birth

Please could I have peoples experiences who developed hypertension after birth?

I have been put on labetatol 3 times a day, but I'm still getting high readings of 147/93. Does it take a while for the medication to work?

How long did it take for your bp to come back down again?

I know this is an old post but just seen it and wanted to comment. I developed post partum hypertension last year had readings around 170/100. I got put on two different medications as one wasn’t enough to bring it down . I stayed on them for about 2 months.. and gradually weaned off them. I found that my blood pressure had actually gone back to normal while I was still taking them as I was getting very low readings and feeling faint. Been off them now about 7/8 months and all fine since. I still check occasionally but normal readings. Hope you are doing well.

@Catmad32 thank you, they changed my medication in the end. I'm 6 months pp now and all is normal again :-)
