Internal pelvic scan while on period

Has anyone ever had this? Got a scan booked for tonight which was rescheduled from a week ago due to Dr strike. I knew when I took this date my period was due around the same time but had read that it was ok to scan while on period. But my period has shown up this morning and I have such discomfort the thought of being scanned later is nasty. Just looking for reassurance I guess - that and to know if the scanner will actually be able to see stuff through the blood?

It's not nice to have to do but it is absolutely fine to have a scan at that time of the month. Just tell the person doing it. It does suck at the best of times op.

I've had this done, not her best but necessary and better than having to reschedule and wait. It will be fine.

I had one on day 3. It was done by a gyn who assured me it wasn't a problem and told me they are always scanning women who are having miscarriages and pregnancy bleeding, so I shouldn't be embarrassed. Hope that might reassure you.

I lost a baby and had one. It's uncomfortable but they can see.

Thanks all, that's really reassuring. I definitely don't want to delay again because it was booked as urgent. Hopefully as day 1 my bleeding will remain fairly light. And I'm in discomfort anyway so a bit more from a scan won't make much difference.

I had mine while on period..they said as long as I'm comfortable... i did call reception to reschedule tho beforehand but the doctor said makes no difference so went theough with it
