Mini pill - constant bleeding???

Hi
I'm after any advice or reassurance! I'm 41, married and always have had very heavy periods. My husband had the snip a few years ago so haven't needed to be on any contraception.
I had a friend who was on the mini pill and told me that she has no periods at all and I should try it, so I started it on 31st dec 2023, I should have had a period around 7th Jan so when started bleeding on the 6th I just thought it was because I'd only just started the pill and it was my period/ breakthrough bleeding. Well it was insanely heavy (soaking through super plus tampons in 20 mins at one point) and I have had only one day since that I haven't bled, including quite big clots and sore tummy / back.

That one day we had sex and it instantly re started the bleeding and it hasn't stopped since....

I contacted the doc and she said it obviously doesn't suit me and try the normal combined pill instead - took first one this morn and the bleeding just seems to be getting worse again.

I'm so fed up, will it ever stop? Where is it all coming from??! It's so tiring I just want it to stop :(

Does anyone have any advice or been through similar??

Thanks

God yeah I gave up on the mini pill last time
I think I gave it about 6 months once and it did settle down and I had a period once every 3 months or so but I couldn't stand the contstant bleeding last time I tried it and gave up after a few months

I gave up on the mini pill because of the constant bleeding, however mine was very light, like the beginning or end of a period most days. From memory doctors tend to say it can take a while for it to settle down. But your bleeding does sound very heavy so I'd probably push the GP to investigate further if I were you. Incidentally I am also 41 and my periods have been mad lately. The last two have been far, far heavier than normal. I'm thinking perimenopause...

I bled for about 3 weeks when starting the mini pill but it has settled down and my periods are lighter, though still monthly at the moment. I’m hoping they will stop! But it’s better than the heavy periods I was having

I’ve been on the mini pill for years and have had no bleeding in that time. I assume it varies from person to person though.

Try another one x i bled / spot on cerazette all the time, switched to noriday, this pill has instantly stopped the spotting and gone back to normal ..no idea yet if it will stop periods altogether

I bled non stop on the mini pill - not heavily though tbf. Bled the whole 6 months I was on it.

Thanks all, it's still very heavy, having to change super plus tampons every couple of hours and getting large clots still.

On day 3 of the combined pill so hoping the rise in estrogen will help stop it soon...
