Itching and bleeding

Please help .

For years now I have suffered with a^^ very itchy scalp. To the point it keeps me awake at night for several hours at night.

I have been to the GP previously and was told "I can't see anything " after she examined my scalp . There are no open sores, no scaling / flaking .

Just this intense itch and burning sensation.

I have tried :
-over the counter shampoos such as Aphosyl which has 5% coal tar extract ,
-the usual head and shoulder type shampoos for dandruff
-phosphate and pharabens free shampoos

  • a range of conditioners both wash out and leave in and oils incase the itching was due to scalp dryness

My hair comes out a fair bit when brushing although still plenty left . My hair is also extremely dry and feels like hay on my head and at this point I have also developed greys .

It is extra itchy when I am on my periods and my periods are awfully long , heavy and together with the itching of the scalp my life is hell for about 2-3 weeks out of each month . I have been referred for the bleeding but the wait is long .

I am not sure if it's related but I also have thick facial hair and body hairs .

In a nutshell , an ugly , hairy , itchy , bleeding , greying mess

Any help ?

Hi @Somerandomgirl ,

Yes I have tried coconut oil , olive oil , caster oil , black seed oil , argan oil etc some made it significantly worse

I did ask the GP whether the itching could be hormonal and she looked at me and said "in what way could they possibly be related "? As if I had asked a very stupid question.

She also didn't seem to think it was fungal .

Google 'pcos itchy scalp'.. it definitely says same things youre suffering from xx

I dont understand this new generation of gps now..not to insult anyone but... they expect us to tell them exactly what is wrong with us...and they just write the prescription...
