Does this sound like endometriosis?

I'm 39 but don't think perimeno yet.

Seriously bad ovulation pain every month. As it almost crying with it and taking cocodamol.

Periods aren't any heavier than usual but (sorry tmi) have got a lot more clots and some are large sort of milk bottle top sized.

Constantly feel bloated

Does it sound like endo? Any other ideas?

GP has referred me but there's a bit of a wait obviously

Yes it does. Any pain that is cyclical in nature and or gets worse up to and including menses should be checked to see if endometriosis is present. It’s often diagnosed via laparoscopy which is keyhole surgery.

If finances permit I would contact your local
private based hospital to see a gynae for an initial consultation. I suggest this as waiting lists for gynaecology on the NHS in many areas is miles long.

Yeah... waiting to get diagnosed too.... horrible ovulation pains here to... all week cramps and the day ovulating its unbearable .... can try going on the pill if no other issues that will stop u ovulating.. i get some periods pain free but ovulation is something out of order...

@Babybearissleeping

It does sound like it could be endo.

It doesn't show up on ultrasound, however gynae suspected I had a chocolate cyst from a scan. But had to be officially diagnosed by laparoscopy.

No it doesn't show up via ultrasound but your doc will probably send you for one anyway just to rule out other causes. This is what they did with me.

Somerandomgirl · 19/01/2024 20:56

They'll send you for scan while u wait for the gynecology appointment, endo doesnt show on scans..... gyne by me they offered the mirena coil if i want to try that (i dont, i went on the mini pill)... or have laporoscopy next if things dont improve.... its a long wait...

will your G.P let you use e-book? I do at mine, you can choose where you go and there’s a private hospital that my daughter chose where the gynaecologists are NHS and a fraction of the waiting time.

They may or may not be able to do the procedure at that hospital, if not they’ll simply put you on the NHS waiting list at the NHS hospital they operate from.

She was seen by the most amazing gynaecologist, his name is Mr Hani Lotfallah, based in Rotherham, but she saw him at a private hospital called Thornbury in Sheffield. She was under another surgeon for 5 years prior to this, less said about him.

It makes such a difference getting a really good gynaecologist, and he is the best and an endometriosis specialist and so compassionate. Look for the ones that are members of BSGE, which means they are laparoscopic specialists in that field. Avoid one called Mr Baxter (Sheffield Hallamshire) utter knob!
