Breast Lump

Evening,
Last night I was checking my boobs and noticed a small, no bigger than a pea, sized lump on my right boob, a little off from the nipple. It’s quite hard and feels very attached to what I assume is the breast tissue. I’m not panicking and want to wait until my period has been and gone (due within the next week or so) to see if it’s just hormone related. However, I’ve checked every inch of both breasts and don’t have any other lumps like this.
Not that it’s related, but when I was 16 I had a pretty sizeable lump removed from my left breast which I believe was a cyst… this one doesn’t feel like that at all. My mum also recently beat breast cancer… again, not letting this panic me as I know it’s a very small chance of genetics. Also probably not related but I have ridiculously itchy armpits which I figured was probably due to washing powder as I’m prone to reactions… but nowhere else is itchy- and I mean unbelievably itchy armpits 🙈

Would you advise going to the GP now or waiting to see if anything changes with my period?!

Personally I’d contact GP now and not wait. It could well be something harmless but the sooner you go the sooner you’ll know. Best of luck

Yes agree - the worst that can happen if you go is that the GP sends you away. If for nothing but your peace of mind get it checked asap
Sending hugs your way Flowers

Absolutely make an appointment straight away with your GP. It might be nothing but you can’t take the risk. My BC was picked up on a regular mammogram, I’d no symptoms but there was still a tumour there. Two huge operations and radiotherapy and I’m now out the other side.

Good Luck and fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about.

Thanks all, I’ve booked an appointment for Monday!

@Innisfree So glad to hear you’re out the otherside. Wish you an abundance of health x

6 out of every 7 lumps a doctor sees on referral turn out to be anything but cancer. The more women they see the more women they can reassure, and the earlier they see you the quicker they can catch anything that is more of a problem.

Glad you've got an appointment. I think the GP will refer you just to be in the safe side.

Hi All,
Had my appointment today. Been given a two week urgent referral for a mammogram and possible biopsy. Happy to hear the results are given on the same day so not long to wait to find out what it is. I’m pretty positive it’s nothing bad and will be a cyst or similar. Just wish I could get my mind to stop going into overdrive 😂

Also cannot wait for the agony boob squishing device, you’d think by now they’d have found a more pleasant way to do this 🙈

Really glad they are moving quickly for you, though I know any waiting is hard. The biopsy, if you have to have one, isn’t too bad. The noise is weird, sounds like a giant stapler, but it’s not really painful at the time (and I’m a complete wuss!)

I had a myriad of scans and ultrasounds (took three hours) and the radiologist was able to tell me there and then she thought I had cancer, equally she would have said if she didn’t think it was. They don’t like you waiting around, they prefer to cut to the chase. I hope you get an answer on the day too. It is most likely just a cyst, most of them are, I was just unlucky. Or lucky to have caught it early enough, depending on what way you look at things.

Thanks for updating and fingers crossed for a positive outcome x

Hi, thought I’d update after my appointment at the breast clinic today. I had an ultrasound in which the doctor informed me I actually have loads of little cysts in both breasts- he took so many screenshots and I could see all these little black voids in the breast tissue.

I was then sent for a biopsy on the offending lump, the doctor wasn’t able to extract any fluid from the lump but said he’d managed to scrape it. Sadly, I have to wait for the results.

However, I am feeling far more positive about the whole situation as neither doctor I seen seemed massively concerned. Hopefully it’s just a cyst and doesn’t grow any bigger, though I don’t know whether I want it removed or not. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight recently and my boobs have massively shrunk, so I do notice the lump quite a bit.

That sounds positive and hopefully you get confirmation to that fact very soon. X
