Hi everyone, I've been reading through alot of reviews about the cerazette pill and they all seem pretty nightmarish

Can anyone who has tried this pill answer a few questions please;

  1. Was your constant breakthrough bleeding heavy?
  1. Did you experience pain? Or was it just constant bleeding?
  1. Was there anything you did to control the bleeding?
  1. How long did you bleed for? Was it literally everyday?

I don't really fancy bleeding and in pain for 6 WHOLE MONTHS! Any replies would be much appreciated. Thank you

No breakthrough bleeding whatsoever. I've had no side effects.

SarahLHs · 12/01/2024 19:44

I never had a breakthrough bleed. I occasionally get the tiniest bit of spotting but that's it. No side effects.

WhatNextVera · 12/01/2024 19:44

I couldn't settle with it ; the breakthrough bleeding was one thing/not too bad but omg the horrendous BO it gave me was unreal, totally uncontrollable, hideous and embarrassing.

Malarandras · 12/01/2024 19:45

Had hardly any bleeding, the occasional breakthrough bleed but that was rare. And no pain. I took it for years with no issue basically.

Devilsmommy · 12/01/2024 19:45

I took this and it was a fucking nightmare. Constant breakthrough bleeding heavy too. Would stop for 2 days and then come straight back. Avoid it like the plague if I was you. See if you can have something else.

Sarah2891 · 12/01/2024 19:48

I've been on it for years, had no problems with it. Had no bleeding at all after about a year.

KatieKat88 · 12/01/2024 19:55

I've literally had no bleeding since I started it around 4 years ago! Not even spotting. No other side effects either. Seems like it's pretty individual about how you get on with it. I was moved on to the generic non-branded version after a while and haven't noticed any difference.

Meceme · 12/01/2024 20:12

Took Cerezette for probably 20 years. Initially 3 monthly injections, then pills after I turned 50. Same hormonal make up, different names. Never had any bleeding at all.

yikesanotherbooboo · 12/01/2024 20:38

You should give it a try for a few months and if it doesn't suit you discuss your options with your doctor. No need to suffer for years but also no need to not try a pill that might really suit you.

rookiemere · 12/01/2024 20:43

Cerazette has kept my Endometriosis at bay for over 10 years so I bloody love it. I had a bit of bleeding when I first started on it, but fairly light and went away in a fee weeks.

AnnaMagnani · 12/01/2024 20:48

No pain. Bled for more or less 3 months which was how long I'd decided to try.

Then miraculously stopped and no more bleeding at all. Marvellous stuff.

RagzRebooted · 12/01/2024 20:50

Most women will not suffer much bleeding at all. Especially after the initial month or two. Some women don't get on with progesterone only contraception, but that doesn't mean you won't. I'd try it for 3 months and see.

Personally I couldn't tolerate it but not for bleeding reasons, it gave me really bad low mood but I'm apparently sensitive to progesterone (I also have anxiety and low mood in my luteal phase). I do pill checks and contraceptive counselling as part of my job and have hundreds of patients who are very happy with it (and the injection).

Mummyofthewildones · 12/01/2024 20:50

Had zero bleeding, was on it for several years. Only stopped as I was rubbish at remembering to take it!

mummymayhem18 · 12/01/2024 20:57

I was on it for over 15 years and had no bleeding at all and no pain. Am still on it after a break as thought I'm menopausal but went back on it after lots of bleeding and pain again. Will sometimes now have some random bleeding. Think by stopping it for awhile it mucked up the whole routine I had going on with it so bit of a blip but seem to be back on track, touch wood

illiad · 12/01/2024 21:14

First time no breakthrough bleeding at all and second time I had breakthrough bleeding for the first 8 weeks or so which was very faint but pretty much daily. No pain either time but constant low level headaches for over a year the second time which was why I stopped taking it.

From what i read...works for one , doesnt work for another..i was so hoping it will work for me to stop my periods ,but nope..gave it 6 months.. just bled most of the time - was like having period every fortnight, heavy on top and long and long and never stopps spotting..and horrible pain before starting to bleed and horrible pain after stopping bleeding... the 6th month on it bled for 18 days in the month... got fed up realised its pointless taking it never gonna settle, and switched to noriday
It did reduce my chronic pain and had no pain while heavy bleeding, and got rid of headaches too. But every week for 2 days doubled over and no pills helped cause was gonna start bleeding again

Guttedme · 14/01/2024 18:40

On second 3month batch of this, I wanted Yasmin but got Cerazette, only good things to say as I’m glad not to have to do ovulation, I find the bleeding occurs roughly every 2 weeks if it happens but it is only ever seen on wiping going for a wee. It is certainly not heavy then my periods prior we’re not that heavy.

The last time I had spotting the very next day the ‘Fibroid’ was more troublesome in my opinion.

The only thing I was concerned about was it’d pile the weight on and be counteractive with weight loss medication but it hasn’t stopped me losing in my slimming efforts.

Sarahr303 · 14/01/2024 18:57

I occasionally have a light bleed. Moderate cramping (less than a proper period). I’ve been on it for 14 years and never had any issues. It works perfectly for me

Luckydog7 · 14/01/2024 19:07

On it for 15 years. Bleeding basically non existent from the beginning. Until after I had DD, since then I've had a monthly period but at about 10% heaviness of normal.

My cousin tried it and bled for a month nonstop so gave up now happily on the implant. Some people just seem to react badly and you won't know until you try.

SingingSands · 14/01/2024 19:33

I took it for 4 years. Periods stopped completely.

Fionafortt · 24/12/2025 14:06

Fionafortt · 24/12/2025 18:14
