Uti & abx.

Morning!

I had a UTI over christmas & NY period, saw the Dr on the 2nd Jan. Had side pain, stinging when passing urine, no temp, extreme pain when Dr had pressed on pelvic area, urine sample showed strong signs of a UTI, so was placed on a 3 day course of Nitrofuratonin.
My last 1 was taken Friday AM. Felt fine and as if it had cleared. Friday night I had niggles in my right side but nothing really alarming. FW to early hours this morning, I'm constantly feeling like I need to wee, stining when passing urine, a constant feeling like my bladder is going to fall out of my V basically. Super uncomfortable!

My question is, the abx should of kicked in and worked by now right? Given that I did start to feel better and suddenly gone downhill again? 😩

Tia x

Really common to require an extra couple of days on antibiotics for UTIs - or even a different antibiotic. Give GP a call first thing, plenty water in the mean time x

Thank you!
My thoughts too, though I am fortunate enough not to suffer with UTIs at all really so stumped me. Will get back on to the GP first thing x

Update, at this point not sure if to ring 111 but would like to avoid if possible and wait until tomorrow morning, like I said, not really experienced UTIs, I'm now passing blood in urine and upon wiping, some tiny tiny clots.
I haven't had a period since having the coil in 2020 so unlikely to be that.

Is there an out of hours service near you? Passing flecks of blood is common too as the urinary tract is essentially raw with irritation, if you're worried/suffering see if you can get an appointment for today/this evening. If no OOH then 111 is best, yeah.
UTI's are bloody awful! X
