Hi - this is my first post on mumsnet about fibroids. I am now 50yr. in 2017 I had an endometrial ablation operation as I had been suffering with very heavy periods/flooding for sometime and was anemic and scan showed I had fibroids. (I didn't want to use the Mirena coil owing to hx of breast cancer & I had no intention wanting further children) . I was extremely fortunate as it worked really well as had no period bleeding since.
However, in the last few years I have been getting regular very low pelvic pain; on the whole it was manageable but as when I was in late 20s I was found to have a 10cm benign tumour on one ovary (with minimal symptoms until it was that big) I have been on to my GP quite regularly with concerns re developing another large ovarian mass , as often the pains seem to be more on one side. However all scans over the years (every couple of yrs) have shown small cysts that disappear plus the fibroids. Now the pain has become worse over the past few months and I have been struggling to cope with the pain at times.
I had a scan earlier this week and have seen the results on the patient access but yet to discuss with GP - however, seems no change to last scan 14mth ago - which basically states ''multiple fibroids'' and largest about 1.7cm. I remember asking last time how many fibroids did they think I had and was told there were too many to count! So in my mind, it seems reasonable to think that the fibroids could be causing the chronic pain. But I think it played down as none of them that big. (although this time the scan lasted longer as she seemed to be doing a lot of measuring).
My question is , does any one else have multiple small fibroids causing pain? And if so have you been offered any treatment? I don't think my GP thinks it's a problem as none of the fibroids that big BUT say I have 10+ fibroids 1cm, that ends up being a lot of mass in fibroids (though I am told my uterus fairly normal in size).
As I have been on the phone to the GP a lot as I haven't been coping with the pains, she said after the scan she would consider referring me to the gynaecologist . I just want answers, to be believed and to have a resolution to this pain. I can't cope with this pain everyday.
I do also have IBS and that is worse I know and I do have to take lax - but it's hard to know what problem making what worse??
Greatly appreciate any experiences / tips etc
Thanks
Kc
